Experience the inspiring journey of a hard-working native family who were expatriated from Corcovado in the 1970s with the creation of the National Park. Relocated outside of Corcovado, this family, with deep roots in agriculture, continued their dedication to farming on their new, albeit smaller, land.
Driven by a vision to achieve more, they embarked on a path of innovation. Through years of trial and error, working tirelessly with animals, planting, and harvesting various crops, they strived to go beyond mere subsistence. Their perseverance and determination led them to explore new possibilities. Initially focused on their African palm plantation, they ingeniously began planting vanilla vines on the same trees to maximize space and profitability per hectare.
After years of experimentation, their hard work bore fruit. The quality of their vanilla beans improved remarkably, earning a reputation as one of the best in the country. Each hectare now generates two sources of revenue, attracting the attention of universities and institutions who visit to learn from their success.
Today, this exemplary local family offers a unique cultural tour on their plantation. By integrating tourism, they have added a third revenue stream, showcasing their journey and the power of determination. This tour not only demonstrates their agricultural innovations but also serves as a testament to the idea that with perseverance, anything is possible. Join us on this enriching excursion to witness firsthand the remarkable story of transformation and success on the Osa Peninsula.
