Itinerary

Day 1: Boat ride and hikes

Time Activity
5:30 AM – 7:00 AM Boat ride to Sirena
Possible observation of marine life: dolphins, whales, sea turtles, mantas, etc.
Remove your shoes to step out of the boat to keep them dry (You will disembark on the beach).
7:00 AM – 7:30 AM 2 km hike to Sirena Ranger Station.
7:30 AM – 8:00 AM Stop at Sirena Ranger Station
Park Registration

8:00 AM – 4:00 PM Hikes in Corcovado National Park
– Los Espaveles trail: 2 km, mostly flat topography (dense and diverse vegetation)
– Ollas trail: 3 km, slightly broken topography (for bird lovers)
– Sirena trail: 1 km, flat topography (by the mouth of the Sirena river. Marine life can be seen)
More trails can be done depending on time and interests.
11:00 AM – 11:30 AM Lunch at the station.
4:00 PM – 5:30 PM Roaming the wild Sirena beach or relaxing at the station.
5:30 PM Dinner at the station.
8:00 PM All lights get turned off in the station
Have a flashlight, headlamp, or phone near your bed.

Day 2: Morning hikes and relaxation

5:00 AM – 7:00 AM Morning hike around the station
Best time of the day to spot wildlife.
7:00 AM – 8:00 AM Breakfast at the station.
8:00 AM – 12:00 PM Trails in Corcovado National Park
– Guanacaste trail: 2 km, flat topography (impressive trees and Sirena River)
– Portion of the trail along the coast toward La Leona or portion of the trail in the primary forest towards Los Patos
Different trails can be done according to the interests of the group.
12:00 PM – 1:00 PM Lunch at the station.
1:00 PM – 5:30 PM Roaming the wild Sirena beach or relaxing at the station.
5:30 PM Dinner at the station.
8:00 PM All lights get turned off in the station
Have a flashlight, headlamp, or phone near your bed.

Day 3: Final hikes and departure

Time Activity
5:00 AM – 6:30 AM Morning hike around the station.
6:30 AM – 7:00 AM Breakfast at the station.
7:00 AM – 12:00 PM Trail options for the last hikes in Corcovado National Park
– Corcovado trail: 1 km, flat and slightly broken topography (tall trees, primary forest)
– Rio Claro trail: 3.5 km, flat topography (primary and secondary forest)
– Los Naranjos trail: 3 km, flat topography (secondary forest, for history lovers)
– Río Pavo trail: 5 km, flat topography (secondary forest, for plant lovers)
Possibility of redoing 1 or 2 of your favorite trails.
11:00 AM Snack at the station.
11:30 AM – 12:30 PM Last hike in Corcovado toward the beach.
12:30 PM – 2:00 PM Boat ride from Sirena to Puerto Jiménez

What To Bring

  • 1L of water in reusable bottles (You will be able to fill bottles at Sirena station)
  • Hydration tablets or energy drinks (optional)
  • Insect Repellent
  • Sunscreen
  • Sun hat
  • Long-sleeved shirt (recommended for sun protection)
  • Hiking shoes with long socks (Rubber boots may be available for rent at Sirena)
  • Camera
  • Flashlight (in case you need to go to the bathroom at night)
  • Snacks for the boat ride (No food will be permitted in the park)
  • Hiking backpack or hiking dry bag (not duffle or suitcase)
  • Waterproof poncho, rain jacket, trash bags or dry bags (to keep things dry)
  • Towel & toiletries for an overnight stay
  • Sandals or flip flops for inside the station. (Your hiking boots will be left outside.)
  • A copy of your passport and travel insurance information (in case of emergency)
  • Prescription and other medications you may need (in case of emergency)
  • Ear plugs (optional)
  • Sea motion sickness tablets to take 30 minutes before the boat ride (optional)

  • A full refund can be offered up to 6 months before the start date of your tour.
  • Once entrances, lodging and meals are paid, there is no refund possible. Corcovado National Park does not provide any refunds or credits. Therefore, refunds or credits are only possible if the park is SOLD OUT on your selected dates and we are unable to make a reservation for you.
  • Changing the dates of a prepaid reservation is not possible.
  • Even if you cannot access the park due to the weather, refunds are NOT possible. You may be able to reschedule in the next 30 days if the park closes.
  • Prepaid transport will be charged if it leaves without you for any reason.
  • Please note that the park policies may change without notice.
