Over the course of about six hours, with well-deserved breaks to rest and relish a picnic lunch amidst nature, the La Leona Tour unfolds a palette of natural wonders. Your guide will travel with you in your 4×4 vehicle.

If your guide needs to travel to Carate on his own, there might be a surcharge to cover his transportation.

Transport from Puerto Jiménez to Carate: $50 per person roundtrip with a minimum of 2 people.

At the bakery in Puerto Jiménez town (it opens at 5:00 AM)
If your hotel is not in Puerto Jiménez, meeting point will be in Carate or let us know from where you need transport.

43 kilometers on a gravel road
A 4WD is needed if you have your own transport
Observation of wildlife along the way
For an optimal experience, we recommend that your guide travels with you
7:00 3.5 km hike to La Leona Station
1.5 km hike on the sandy beach
2 km hike in trails
8:00 Stop at the Station
Park Registration: Your guide will have your prepaid reservation

8:30 Hike in the National Park up to ‘El Barco’ point
Flat trail following the Pacific coast (partial shade)
Madrigal River crossing (remove shoes while crossing to keep them dry)
Refreshing dip in Madrigal River natural pool (optional)
The distance walked depends on your guide, your physical capacity, and your preferences of making more or less stops to enjoy flora and fauna

  • Once your entrances are paid, there is no refund, credit or date change possible. Corcovado National Park does NOT provide any refunds or credits. Therefore, refunds or credits are only possible if the park is SOLD OUT on your selected dates and we are unable to make a reservation for you.
  • Even if you cannot access the park due to the weather, refunds or credit are NOT possible. If the park closes due to the weather, you might be able to reschedule for the following 30 days depending on availability.
  • Prepaid transport will be charged if it leaves without you for any reason.
  • Please note, the park policies may change without notice.
