The expedition embarks from Puerto Jiménez, venturing through the quaint Carate village, and unveiling the wild trails from La Leona to the esteemed Sirena Ranger Station. An overnight stay at Sirena unfolds a rare opportunity to immerse in the nocturnal whispers of the jungle, with comfortable lodging, a warm dinner, and a hearty breakfast setting the stage for an exhilarating adventure.

On this well-trodden path, stretching 19.5 kilometers each way along the Pacific Coast, the mysterious allure of the Osa Peninsula unfolds with each step. Whether it’s the murmuring waves or the echoing calls of the wild, the trail offers an ever-evolving scenery and a promise of wildlife encounters enriched by the early morning and late afternoon hours – when the jungle’s residents are most active.

The inquisitive can further explore the trails around Sirena under the expert guidance of our seasoned guides, unveiling more of Corcovado’s hidden gems. The expedition retraces its steps on the second day but with a new perspective and a heart filled with wild memories.

While designed to quench the thirst of the curious and love for nature, the varying pace itinerary ensures a challenging journey for experienced hikers with endurance in hot and humid conditions.

You need your own 4×4 transportation for this itinerary and your guide will be traveling with you from Puerto Jiménez.

If you do not have your own 4WD transportation, we recommend choosing another itinerary allowing you to discover different trails during both days.

The transport from Puerto Jiménez to Carate costs $25 per person each way with a minimum of 4 people.

Sirena Ranger Station provides:

  • Rooftop lunch area

  • Electrical outlets to charge your electric devices

Daily Itinerary

Day 1. 19.5 km hike to Sirena Station

If your hotel is not in Puerto Jiménez, meeting point will be in Carate or let us know from where you need transport.

43 kilometers on a gravel road

7:00 3.5 km hike to La Leona Station
1.5 km hike on the sandy beach
2 km hike in trails

River crossing (up to 1.3 meter of water if the tide is high)
Walking up a hill (1 kilometers)
Walking on sharp rocks (500 meters)
Walking different stretches on sandy beach under the sun (total of 4.5 kilometers)

  • A full refund can be offered up to 6 months before the start date of your tour.
  • Once entrances, lodging and meals are paid, there is no refund possible. Corcovado National Park does not provide any refunds or credits. Therefore, refunds or credits are only possible if the park is SOLD OUT on your selected dates and we are unable to make a reservation for you.
  • Changing the dates of a prepaid reservation is not possible.
  • Even if you cannot access the park due to the weather, refunds are NOT possible. You may be able to reschedule in the next 30 days if the park closes.
  • Prepaid transport will be charged if it leaves without you for any reason.
  • Please note that the park policies may change without notice.
