Coastal Adventure Trip

Puerto Jiménez* – Carate – La Leona – Sirena – La Leona – Carate – Puerto Jiménez

*Transport from Puerto Jiménez to Carate is not included in the price.

The Coastal Adventure Trip is our economic 3-day Corcovado excursion for travelers with a 4×4 vehicle who can reach Carate. A good physical condition is required as the tour takes you on 45+ kilometers in the humid forest and sun-kissed beaches over the 3 days.

Be prepared for a challenging first day that demands good physical condition. You will traverse roughly 20 km between Carate and Sirena, making river crossings and experiencing some of the park’s various ecological zones. This trail includes a major quantity of diverse ecosystems setting the scene for an incredible journey. Follow the Pacific coastline passing through tropical wet forests, sandy beaches, mangroves and cross rivers. The trail is mostly flat and rewards each time there is a wildlife encounter and an animal is spotted.

On the second day, discover the surrounds of Sirena Biological Station, its trails brimming full of wildlife and hidden treasures. Your stay in Sirena is an opportunity to rest and rejuvenate in the midst of this wildlife haven. Take in the sights and sounds of the jungle, engage in wildlife watching, or simply relax in the serenity of this pristine environment.

On the last day, you will be retracing the trail from day one on your way back to Carate. The experience will be even more interesting, as you will start hiking early which will increase your chances of observing the rich fauna of Corcovado National Park.

We encourage you to travel with your guide from Puerto Jiménez as he can show you sights all along the way and talk about the history of Osa Peninsula and Corcovado National Park.

This excursion is designed for adventurers in good physical condition, as it involves traversing challenging terrain and covering substantial distances. The hot and humid coastal climate adds an extra layer of intensity to the experience, making it imperative to be adequately prepared. It’s a journey best suited to those seeking a demanding and unforgettable adventure.
