Your day commences with an exciting boat ride towards Sirena, the wildlife heartland of Corcovado National Park, setting the stage for an exploration amidst nature’s grandeur.

As you disembark, the trail beckons. Embark upon a well-guided hike through the verdant tropical rainforest for the first kilometers, each step unveiling the meticulous wonders of nature as you progress toward the pristine Pacific coastline at La Leona. A 20+ km hike, designed for the adventurous at heart, unveils panoramic vistas, untouched sandy beaches, and a sense of adventure with a few thrilling river crossing experiences.

The calming waters of Madrigal River offer a chance for a refreshing respite, a gentle pause in your day of exploration. The wildlife around is a theatre comprised of nature’s finest, and while encounters are at the whims of the wilderness, the likelihood of witnessing the park’s vibrant wildlife adds a layer of exciting discovery to your journey.

Arriving at La Leona marks a chapter of triumph in your expedition, a narrative of adventure amidst the wild. Dock of Puerto Jiménez.
5:30 Boat ride to Sirena
Possible observation of marine life: turtles, dolphins, whales, etc.
You will arrive on the beach in Sirena. Remove your shoes to keep them dry.
7:00 Naranjo trail in Sirena
Wildlife watching.
8:00 Mostly flat hike in the shade including the following difficulties:
Claro River crossing (up to 1.3 meters of water at high tide)
Walking up a hill (1 kilometer)
Walking on sharp rocks (500 meters)
Walking different stretches on the sandy beaches under the sun (total of 4.5 kilometers).
11:30 Picnic lunch on the beach
No food available for purchase.
12:00 Hike in Corcovado National Park
Flat trail that follows the Pacific coast (partial shade)
Madrigal River crossing (remove your shoes while crossing to keep them dry)
Refreshing dip in Madrigal River natural pool (optional).
2:00 Break in La Leona

2:15 Hiking to Carate
3.5 km on sandy beach and a partial shade trail following the coast line.
3:15 Transport to Puerto Jiménez
43 km 4×4 ride.

  • Once your entrances are paid, there is no refund, credit or date change possible. Corcovado National Park does NOT provide any refunds or credits. Therefore, refunds or credits are only possible if the park is SOLD OUT on your selected dates and we are unable to make a reservation for you.
  • Even if you cannot access the park due to the weather, refunds or credit are NOT possible. If the park closes due to the weather, you might be able to reschedule for the following 30 days depending on availability.
  • Prepaid transport will be charged if it leaves without you for any reason.
